Psoriasis

Psoriasis develops when the person’s immune system mistakenly activates a type of white blood cell called T cell.  The skin cells will growth too quickly and the body does not shed these skin cells causing the cells to pile up on the surface of the skin.
Psoriasis may look contagious but it is not! For psoriasis to appear, it seems that a person must inherit the genes. There are different types of Psoriasis but about 80% of the people living with psoriasis will develop plaque psoriasis.  This type causes patches frequently form on the elbows, knees and lower back but it can occur anywhere on the skin.
