Acne

Acne is the most common skin condition in the United States. Approximately 40-50 million Americans have acne. Some causes are excess oil on the skin, clogged pores, bacteria and inflammation.
The excess oil increases dramatically during adolescence. Excessive washing and scrubbing will not prevent nor cure acne.  It is recommended to gently wash the face once to twice a day with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water.  This will help to remove the excess of oil.
Acne should be properly treated. Picking, scratching and squeezing the acne lesions may cause scars. Acne treatments might take time to work but it exist different types of treatments. In order to recommend the right treatment dermatologist look at different factors including the acne severity.
